Formation debates in 7-a-side are as heated as they are in the full game. The pitch is smaller, but the tactical variety is surprisingly rich.
Three at the back, a compact midfield trio, and a lone striker. This is the default for a reason: it provides defensive solidity without sacrificing midfield presence. The key is the centre-back who can carry the ball forward when the midfield is pressed.
Two defenders, three in midfield, and two forwards. When it works, it overwhelms opponents with numbers in attacking areas. When it breaks down, you are scrambling two defenders against three attackers. Best suited for teams with high press energy.
Four defenders and two attackers with a free-flowing midfield role shared by all. Rare, experimental, and surprisingly effective against teams that like to build from the back — because there is simply no space left. Not recommended unless your four defenders are very comfortable in possession.
The *Arena Pro* mode requires managers to submit a lineup of minimum seven starters before kickoff. The app stores your formation history so you can analyse what worked and what did not across a full season.
